Our Beginnings
History of Bay Point
It was once said that "a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." So too for us. One summer back in 1945 a young teenager came with his mom and dad and dog, Major, to Bay Point to escape the trappings of urban life. Years later that young man continued to vacation at Bay Point. Only this time, he came with his young wife and their children. They have come almost every year since. Eventually wth the expanding generations, the family acquired three Bay Point cottages to vacation in as they no longer all fit in one. In 2010 the family incorporated the three cottages into a company called REKGREASION PROPERTIES. They continue to host their family vacations in the cottages but have now opened them up for the public to use and enjoy when the family is not in town.
Bay Point was once a bustling waterfront summer community for the wealthy of Boston to spend vacations at in the late 1800's and early 1900's. It was common for families living at Bay Point to be invited to dinner and to socialize with their neighbors. They would walk in the cool of the evening to their neighbor's house, bringing food to share. At one time, there was even a community playhouse for the locals to put on dramas and show off their talents. Today Bay Point continues to share that same community spirit. In fact one could say that it has even grown. Young adults and vacationing families alike, living in charming modern cottages at Bay Point, often can be seen picnicing together with their neighbors out on the beach or sandbar, sharing rides in motorized dinghies, and still walking to their neighbors' homes for dinner.
